Fire Prevention — It’s Up to You
The 2003 Old and Grand Prix fires charred more than 150,000 acres and destroyed more than 1,000 structures.
The San Bernardino National Forest is a recreational playground for 7 million people who use it on a year-round basis for skiing, hiking, bicycling, off-highway vehicles, camping, fishing and other seasonal events.
In addition, the San Bernardino National Forest has a residential population greater than any other national forest in the United States. As people leave the urban areas due to urban sprawl, traffic and noise, they have produced an exodus for the more rural, quiet lifestyle of the mountains. However, this increases the potential for devastating wild land fires that could be both economic and environmental disasters.
Learn what you can do to protect your property and to help prevent catastrophic wildfires in the San Bernardino Mountains.
